Museums are an effective informal learning environment for science, art and more. Many researchers have proposed museum guide robots, where the outcomes of the interactions are based solely on the robot’s communication. In contrast, we explored how a robot could encourage learning and teamwork through human-human interactions. To achieve this, we created “Chase,” a novel zoomorphic robot that presents “Data Chase,” an interactive museum activity. We designed Chase to enable museum-goers to learn about the exhibits together by prompting users to complete a teamwork based scavenger hunt for rewards.
